Notes on high purity helium

Precautions for use

High purity helium is used after being pressurized by pressure regulators such as YQY-12 or 152IN-125. Soapy water must be used to detect gas pipeline leakage before use to ensure that the gas pipeline does not leak.

Make sure there are no helium leaks and keep the air ventilated while working. If oxygen levels fall below 19.5% due to increased helium, the patient first develops shortness of breath, inattention, and ataxia; Then comes fatigue, weakness, irritability, nausea, vomiting, coma, cramps and death.

Packaged gas cylinders have a service life. All expired gas cylinders must be sent to the relevant authorities for safety inspection before they can be used again.

When exhaust gas is used in each helium bottle, the residual pressure in the bottle must be maintained at 0.5MPa and the minimum pressure must not be less than 0.25MPa. The cylinder valve must be closed to ensure gas quality and safety.

When transporting, storing and using bottled helium, keep it in separate stacks. It should be kept away from open flames and heat sources. Keep away from fire, oil wax, explosion, re - throw and impact. Do not strike the bow or bow on the cylinder block. Rough handling of gas cylinders is prohibited. A special wheelbarrow should be used to move the cylinder short distances. Cylinders should be transported over long distances using hazardous goods carriers.

Liquid helium has a temperature of 268.9℃. Contact with the skin can cause severe frostbite.

How to store

First of all, gas cylinders should be stored in a dedicated warehouse, which should meet the relevant provisions of the Code for Fire Prevention in Building Design.

Secondly, empty and heavy bottles should be placed separately and clearly marked, and a fire extinguishing system should be installed nearby.

Third, the cylinders cannot be kept in the same warehouse, because the gas in the cylinders can cause combustion, explosions and toxic substances to come into contact with each other.

Fourth, the gas cylinder should be placed clean, covered, fixed correctly when placed vertically, and the top should be in the same direction when placed horizontally.

Fifth, the camp should not have trenches, underground channels, open fire and other heat sources. Bearings should be ventilated and dry, avoid direct sunlight and rain, and pay attention to bearing water and cylinder corrosion.
